Madrid Hotel Advice

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Fransisco I or the Hotel Intur Palacio San Martin in Madrid recently? We are trying to make a decision between the two hotels. It looks like the Hotel Fransisco I has recently been renovated. Like everyone, we are looking for upgraded, clean and quiet. Thanks.

This is the hotel I used in Madrid , it fits what you are looking for . About two blocks from Sol , dead quiet despite the location , was EU 133 / night including full breakfast this past September - https://www.liabeny.es/en/

We stayed at Hotel Intur Palacio San Martin last summer and had a great stay. The room was clean and quiet, staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good, and the location was terrific. It's a short walk to Sol and the metro and other sites in the area but much quieter than Sol or Arenal in the evening. We also enjoyed a meal outdoors in San Marin Square with their restaurant which was also good.

No experience with the other hotel you mentioned so I can't compare the two, but we were happy with our stay at Palacio San Martin.

I just took a look at the Francisco I website and thought I'd mentions something about our experience on Calle Arenal when we were in Madrid in case it's helpful. Our first night there we'd booked an apartment on Calle Arenal about a block from the Francisco Hotel--it was a disaster for a lot of reasons that were specific to the apartment itself and we ended up switching the next day to Hotel Intur Palacio San Martin (much, much better), but that one night on Arenal we found that the street has a lot of loud foot traffic late into the night, lots of partying groups, lots of noise.

I want to stress that we did NOT stay at Francisco I and I have no idea how well insulated the rooms are or anything like that, but if you do choose that hotel and you want quiet, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to request a room on the side away from Arenal!

Hi Susan,
I haven't stayed at the hotels you are considering but Hotel Intur Palacio San Martin will probably be slightly quieter, as the Hotel Fransisco is on Arenal which is a really nice but pretty busy pedestrian shopping street.
They are both in good locations close to the palace.

Before I went to Spain, I was SO anxious about finding a quiet, cool nice hotel. I really stressed over it! In the end I booked with Hotel Mate Mario (close to your choices) and I realized that I had been unnecessarily worried. The hotels in that area are very professional and enjoyable. So, no matter which you choose, be confident that you will have a great trip!

Enjoy Madrid!
