I will be in Madrid during the Fiesta de la Trashumancia (23 Oct. 2022). Has anyone attended this? Is this worth a half or full day if time in Madrid is limited? Thanks in Advance.
I have been as a teenager and I still remember it. It happens right through the middle of town anyway, and it definitely does not need to be a full day affair: it would be fun to at least have a look!
Hi Barry,
the Fiesta is on the 24th. This is the official program. On the 23rd the sheep will be in the Casa de Campo. On the 24th they will bring sheep through town to the Plaza de Colon.
Unless you want to see a bunch of sheep, it doesn't look too interesting. I've been to a few fiestas de la transhumancia in villages around here. They usually have different activities beside the sheep going through town like exhibitions of shearing, sheep dog tests, and there is usually a serving of migas.
