I am looking to fill in some of my "free time" on my RS Barcelona/Madrid trip in a few weeks. Has anyone visited the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas? Since it's not technically "bullfighting" season, I was looking into touring the bullring and the museum in Madrid. Thanks!
We have not but my husband enjoyed the bullfighting bar off the Playa Mayor La Torre del Oro. It's like a museum and they rerun old famous bull fights. It was a bit much for me.
Thank you.
Attended a bullfight there is 2007. loved it. People either love, or hate, them. There are very few people in the middle. Back to your question. Vist the bullring's English site. It does have tours.

I actually will be in Madrid in February (Also out of bullfight season) and was there at the same time a year or two ago. I did not make it to the bullring and museum, but probably will this time. My take is that it is more for the serious fan, but OK for me. If my time was tight, the bar mentioned by a previous poster (and covered well in Rick Steves guides) is a fine but lesser substitute. great pictures and memorabilia, plus beer or vermouth and bar snacks.
