Madrid-Barcelona train tickets?

My wife and I are planning our trip to Spain and I have been checking renfe.com for weeks to book our AVE tickets for Madrid to Barcelona on June 8, and then other legs of our journey after that.

I can’t see anything after June 6 though using the RENFE search function. I know that RENFE says their site updates up to 62 days out in advance at most, but now we are less than 60 days away from our intended booking. Is this common or does it mean that there are no more tickets available? Looking at days before, e.g. June 3, there are plenty of AVE trips with seats available, etc.

Can anyone who’s experienced this before give me some kind of an idea as to when we can expect to be able to book our AVE tickets? Thanks in advance!

I am having the same problem - nothing showing for Sevilla to Madrid after June 6th and I am traveling on June 12th. I even messaged Renfe twice and asked when the schedules were coming out and twice the reply was something to the effect of, "No idea when".

I just keep checking daily, hope I get lucky and see the options as soon as they come out. Oh the joys of Renfe......

Excellent - thank you. Ironically, I did sign up for a booking alert on loco2.com a few weeks ago. Looks like all I can do now is wait. :)

Aha! Thank you for the helpful info! I’ll update this thread when I am able to successfully book the tickets.

Me and my wife along with 2 children are visiting spain from 31st May to 12th June.
We have a train from Barcelona to Madrid on the 3rd, and then a few more rides between different cities. Perhaps, since I got the Eurail pass, I didn't see any unavailability of the tickets. I have also done the reservation to make sure we get the seats on the train (time) we intend to take. We are also going to Granada, Cordova(day trip) and Seville, all travels by Eurail. If you guys are planning to taking 3 or more trains it might be good to have the pass. It is our first time going there so hoping for a good experience.

I just got my alert from Loco2.com that the schedules past June 6th are up and was able to book easily on their site. I tried Renfe and gave up after it kept changing my passenger number to 1 (I need to buy 5).

I just checked both Loco2.com and Renfe.com and neither site lists any available trains from Madrid to Barcelona for June 8 or later. But thank you for the update! It looks like they did post their routes for Barcelona to Sevilla, which is odd to me. Why would an AVE train Barcelona to Sevilla on June 12 be available, but not an AVE train Madrid to Barcelona on June 8?

My route is Sevilla to Madrid so maybe your route isn't up yet (best guess). Hang in there!
