Madrid-Barajas (Non-Schengen T4S) to Madrid Atocha Station Transfer

Hi all,

I'll be visiting Spain in September, and going from Madrid directly to Seville. My flight arrives from the US at 10.10am, and I am trying to figure out the best timing for RENFE AVE tickets to Seville. Do you think with transfers from Terminal 4S to 4, Passport Controls, Baggage Claim, and taking the Cercanias C1 to Atocha for a 1PM train to Seville is cutting it too close? My seat on the plane is at the very front of Economy. My understanding is that the Cercanias ticket is free if I use the code on a prebooked RENFE AVE fare, and that it takes about 30 minutes.

Thanks!

I did that same itinerary last November. I did not prepurchase the ticket to Sevilla. I felt it was too risky. I think I figured out it would have saved about 25 euro/ticket. As it ended up, we arrived and got thru the airport much faster than we anticipated. By not prepurchasing the ticket we were able to get to Sevilla about 2 hours earlier than planned. I purchased my tickets at the airport RENFRE office from a very friendly and helpful, English speaking staff person. She put us on a cercanias ticket that was leaving in minutes and told us to hustle and if we didn't make it, to come back to her and she'd adjust the AVE ticket. You do get the cercanias ticket included for free at the RENFRE office.
