Madrid-Barajas Airport Transfer

Hi guys,

I read the information on the Madrid-Barajas Airport website but would like to confirm my understanding.

When arriving from the U.S. on American Airlines at T-4S with a carry-on bag only and transferring to Iberia Express to catch a flight T-4 to Sevilla, what is the process after arrival?

Does one go through Passport Control, then use the people mover to get to T-4 for Iberia Express?

This is two separate tickets: American and Iberia. Is 90 minutes long enough?

Thank you!

That is correct on the process, but I would be a bit nervous with 90 minutes on separate tickets.

Looking at the AA site I see a LAX-MAD-SVQ with an 1 hr 55 min connection as their shortest offering.

You have given yourself 25 fewer minutes than the airline does to do the connection.

It appears anything short of perfect execution may not be good enough to do it.

Is it too late to give yourself more time?

Thanks Val and Joe!

No, tickets have not been purchased yet. (This is for my daughter who is meeting us in Sevilla.) I was going to book the 9am train for her but she asked about flights. It seems like the train is the better option.

Confirming that we wouldn't have to go through security at T-4, right? Just Passport Control upon arrival at T-4S.

I'd really prefer the train myself, as you keep moving on arrival rather than waiting around in the airport--just a taxi or train to the station, then it's a high speed train.

Agreed that the process is correct.

I also agree that it’s a tight connection in two tickets. If they haven’t been purchased yet why not just book it ti SVQ as a connection on one ticket?

Oh, I misunderstood the question. The flight from JFK-MAD has been purchased and cannot be changed. At the time, adding the Sevilla leg was $200 more whereas it is between $35-50 on its own.

If I understand correctly the flight routing is JFK-MAD; MAD-SVQ.

AA has a single ticket offering with a 55 minute connection, so in theory the 90 minutes should be adequate.

The 'walk up' ticket price ( for MAD-SVQ) looks to be ~$260, if the connection is missed.

If everything works you save ~$150. If not ......
