Hello Friends
Thank you in advance for your time.
I am traveling from Madrid Atocha station to Seville. This is my first time in Spain. I have Rick Steves' 2019 Spain book. I would like the most details on getting to the right area for the AVE to Seville, as I walk slow.Any other experience advise for navigating the station will be tremendously appreciated. I am a bit concerned. But whenever I have some trepidation brewing inside me, This forum of special folks have always alleviated me.
Thanks again

This description from the Man in Seat 61 may be helpful, especially "Leaving by Train from Puerta de Atocha." The place has good signage in English and Spanish, with escalators and "moving sidewalks." But allow enough time so you're not rushed. If you have extra time you can enjoy the garden.
Oh yes, this is just the detail I need.
thank you Dick
We went to Sevilla the day we flew in from the U.S. Atocha does sound overwhelming, but in actuality, we found it pretty easy. You do have to go through security for AVE so allow time. I found the employees at the ticket windows weren't overly friendly, but they spoke English and would provide assistance with directions. Inside the area with the AVE trains, there were at least 12 separate platforms, be sure to look to see what platform you will use and watch the screens with the departure information. The employees at the gates are helpful and you can double check to make sure you are waiting in the correct place. Allow yourself plenty of time and you will be fine. In general, I found the people in Spain to be fairly friendly and helpful.
How are you getting to Atocha? Are you arriving by metro, taxi, train?
Hello Jules,
Thank you so much for you comprehensive account of your experience.
Hi Chani,
I am getting to the station by taxi
Then there's no big problem. To get into the AVE train lounge, you need to have your ticket in hand for the security check. You will have to put all your belongings through the scanning machine.
