Flying into Madrid about mid-March and out of Barcelona with 9 nights total in country. Is it reasonable to plan a 2 night stop in Granada? Taking train from Madrid, to Granada, then train to Barcelona from Granada. Also, any recommendations from among Rick's listed hotels in each city greatly appreciated. I'm especially partial to anythiing with a rooftop terrace view. We have some limits on walking, so places close to transportation would be best. Thanks in advance
Spain is a large country and very diverse. I recommend a regional focus. Barcelona and Madrid in ten days will fill your appetite with delight. Day trips from both cities is certainly attractive. Granada is for next time.
Nine nights is probably not enough for those three cities. You can see the same discussion below in another thread regarding nine nights for Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla. You will use up a big chunk of your vacation time traveling to and from Granada. Good luck.
Look at the travel time and make your list for Barcelona and Madrid. Then decide if the tradeoff in lost time is worth it to you.

Look for H10 hotels in Barcelona for rooftop terraces. And in Barcelona the views from the cafeteria on level 9 of El Cortez Ingles department store at Plaza Catalunya are superb and the food is pretty good too.
Thanks to all for your thoughtful responses. I was afraid adding Granada might be too much in the time we have, hence your responses are very helpful, and much appreciated.
I agree with Nick. If looking at a map, Zaragoza is between Madrid and Barcelona. Granada, on the other hand, is rather out of the way. While I liked the Alhambra much more than the Aljafaría palace in Zaragoza I’m not sure that detour would be the best use of your limited time.
Thank you Jaimeelsablo. I Appreciate your thoughts and suggestions and will be looking into Zaragoza.
Stick with Madrid and Barcelona and take the high speed train.
We did a Rick Steve’s Spain My Way last year and stayed at Hotel Jazz, centrally located, modern hotel and great rooftop terrace. This was one of my favorite hotels from that trip
