Recoletos station looks to be 3 or 4 blocks from your hotel. Walking
should be no issue unless you have lots of luggage. You could change
trains at Nuevos Ministerios to the C2/3 line and get off at Sol, which
looks a bit closer, but I don't know how easy the transfer is.

Note that you need to know what terminal at Barajas Airport you are
flying into. The C trains depart from terminal 4, which is not connected
to terminals 1/2/3 (look at a map of the airport and you will see). Terminal
4 is used mostly by Iberia. If you are flying into 1/2/3, then you have the
options of taking a bus to Atocha station and then a taxi, or Metro to, say,
Gran Via, which is close to your hotel, or, Metro from airport, but with
multiple changes, which is probably not the best option. Or take the airport
bus to T4 and then the C train.

Believe the Gran Vía station is closer to your hotel. It’s a C station too. My wife and I always take the metro. In your case, the hotel is a five minutes walk from both the Gran Vía and Chueca stations. The Recoletos and Sol stations are further away.

From the airport you’d take the metro to the Colombia station, switch to line 9 (purple), then switch at Nuñez de Balboa, line 5 (green).

Though I'd describe the distance as more than 3-4 blocks, if I were taking the Cercanias I'd walk from Recoletos to the hotel. Sol is technically closer, but not enough to make sense of changing trains. Heads up that the first 2/3 of the walk is uphill and the sidewalks are narrowish.

Unfortunately, taking the Metro into the center is a three-train, two-change affair. I've done it coming from/going to domestic/western European flights, but I don't subject myself to that ordeal before or after a transatlantic.

To clarify for Jaime, above, the Gran Via Metro station is connected to the Sol Cercanias station by a very long underground tunnel. But there isn't a Gran Via station for Cercanias.

Another heads up: be careful with Pizza Antonia, on the SW corner of the plaza. It's turned my stomach upside down more than once, and I've finally learned my lesson.

You'll be near Entre Santos, wich is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Can be tough to get in.

A taxi from the airport to central Madrid will cost about 35€. It’s a fixed rate. For me, after a long flight, it’s worth it to not have to deal with luggage on public transportation in a severely jet lagged state.
