Hello,

Trying to connect from Madrid to Mallorca in July on separate tickets so we'll need to go through customs, baggage, security etc. is 2 hrs. 45 min enough time? We are a family of 4.

FLIGHT INFO-

DELTA U.S.-Madrid flight lands at 9:30
RYANAIR Madrid-Palma flight departs at 12:15

It looks like Delta is in Terminal 1 at Barajas and Ryanair is also, so that is of some help.

With that, it starts to come down to things like:

  • is your inbound flight on time
  • where are you sitting in the plane
  • will you be able to use the e-passport gates (it's not clear it works for US citizens yet)
  • Ryanair check-in lines (probably not short)

If you can manage with carry-on bags, that will also help. Barring that, it could work at
2:45, but since the variables cannot really be quantified until the day of the flight, I don't
think a definitive answer is possible. But you're definitely not in the clear.

If you’re not checking bags and you can check into your Ryan Air flight/get a boarding pass, it would take a serious delay in your from the US. I would expect you’ll have plenty of time. I did a similar trip through Madrid airport and security/passport control was a breeze.

If you have to drop off your bags at the Ryan Air desk in Madrid, you’re still probably fine but that rarely drag if there’s a tour group on your plane and they’re all unfamiliar with budget airline policies.
