Hi, we will be in Barcelona a full day on two consecutive sundays of a cruise. i am looking for a place to leave our luggage during the day so we can tour as much as possible and then head back to the port. we have a hotel for the second sunday afternoon so that is not a problem
i was thinking of just getting a real cheap vrbo in the city but was looking for suggestions.

Ask the hotel where you are staying later if you could store luggage there. For a fee and tip of course.

we are landing at 9 am the first sunday and then have the whole day open until the cruise in the late afternoon.
your suggestion will work our second sunday

Sorry to disappoint Suki, but ours here in Catalonia is not really a tipping culture -at least not in the sense you might be used to- meaning that if this hotel offers a storage service, they'll store your luggage... either for free (as a complimentary service offer to guests) or either for a set fee (not a tip!); if they don't offer this service, they'll simply tell you they don't have this service, period -and don't try to push a tip because the hotel assistant might rudely tell you off. Those hotels that don't offer this service normally it tends to be either due to lack of space or due to insurance limitations (their commercial insurance, that is)
Anyhow, one store where you can drop off your luggage for the day is http://lockerbarcelona.com/, located at a stone throw away from Plaça Catalunya, considered "the" centre of the city. There are others of course, especially in Ciutat Vella (the Old City).
