London-Spain-London 15 days

Hi everyone,

Hope you can help with our itenary draft. We got a great deal on flights into Heathrow, so our trip must start and end there. We initially are thinking 5-6 days in England, with the rest in Spain. We are not big museum goers, and want to explore the sights and culture. One of my big questions is the south of spain. We really like the idea of going to Morocco for a day, but it seems that it adds 3 days in the South, and not sure if it is an effective use of our time? I am also having trouble finding out the travel options for getting around between Seville, Tariff (is that the only place to catch the Ferry?) and Granada.

We are still finalizing the trip and welcome feedback. We initially had Barcelona to Lisbon, but decided we'd like to explore South Spain and perhaps do Portugal/North Spain another time. If there is a more direct way to the South, that'd be great. Thanks!

Thanks and let me know if anything is unclear.

I agree; I would not go to Tangier for one day. It's not the best of Morocco and it takes too long to get there. There are many wonderful things to see in Spain, and you don't have enough time as it is.

I love Spain, but unless you think this will be your only time to visit, I'd spend the entire time in the UK. If you're set on spending some of your limited time travelling between countries and cities, I'd pick one area in Spain and spend your time in that area.

From Manchester, you can fly to various airports in Spain. It makes more sense to avoid backtracking, so fly in to Seville or Malaga, then work your way north to Madrid and then to Barcelona before returning to London. Or, do this in the reverse direction.

The complete list of where you can fly from Manchester is on the airport's Wikipedia page. You'll see that you can fly to Seville with Ryanair, and to Barcelona and Malaga with a number of airlines: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_Airport#Airlines_and_destinations

Would this be your first time to the UK? If so then spend the duration in the UK. Not sure of the relevance of Manchester. If it's simply for a flight to Spain then any of the London airports (that includes Stansted and Luton) would be easier than Manchester.

If you are set on Spain then with such little time I would skip Madrid (it's nothing special) and fly further south. You're likely to find a cheaper flight to Malaga than to Madrid. From Malaga you're closer to Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Gibraltar and Tarifa if you're still set on Morocco although there is a ferry from Gibraltar to Tangier (http://www.directferries.co.uk/gibraltar_tangier_med_ferry.htm) although it lands at a ferry port 40km from Tangier proper.

Barcelona is nice but if you're not museum goers or interested in art (Gaudi in particular) then it might not be as interesting for you. Personally I find Andalusia far more varied and interesting and you can always experience an odd taste of the UK in Gibraltar.
