Planning a brief layover of several nights in Malaga. Would appreciate lodging suggestions. Prefer smaller family run establishment, but open to suggestions. Traveling there mid-October.
Thank you
Dave
I always used to stay here - privately owned, rather Spanish hotel on quiet side street right in the centre, with valet parking, good breakfast and clean, tradional style rooms.

Not your preference necessarily, but we recently stayed at the Parador up by the castle. It affords outstanding views of the city and port area. For getting to and from town we took the #35 bus that stops about 100 yards from the front of the hotel.
For us, the two nights we spent in Málaga was the right amount of time.
You don’t give a price range so this might not be your style but I spent 5 nights at the Only You Malaga. It’s not a huge hotel but it isn’t family run - it’s more high-end but not fancy. I loved the location, right at the entrance to the pedestrian area but with easy access to the waterfront walk.
The breakfast there is fantastic, the rooms updated and comfortable, and the bathrooms had nice walk-in showers - always a plus for me.
The rooftop bar has really nice views.

We spend a chunk of the winter season in Malaga. After trying a number of different locations in the city, we have found the Soho area to be the best location for us. This is the area where Only You Hotel is located as was mentioned in above post. Soho is convenient to the commuter train station (to and from the airport and many other towns esp along southern coast), bus stations, city center, Muelle Uno and the beach. Plenty to keep you busy in Malaga plus day trips. We rent an apt from the same owner so can't give any suggestions re hotels. Hope you have a great visit!
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions!!
