lodging in Salamanca

We are spending one night in Salamanca on our drive from Lisboa to Madrid airport. I am looking for recommendations for a clean, mid-priced hotel in Salamanca. Preferably walking distance from main part of town.

We stayed at a hotel just a block outside the wall, that would fit your bill. One reason we chose it was that it had parking. In the event, the check-in person told us it was safe to park on the street outside. That was nice, since it saved us quite a few euros. I'll see if I can dig up the name. You might try Tripadvisor or booking.com. I'm sure I got it from one or the other of those.

Hi again, Eleni,

I checked, and I'm pretty sure the hotel we stayed at was the Puente Romano.

We stayed at Hostal Goya, just a few blocks from the university and the Plaza Mayor. It is on the second floor of the building. There was a parking garage just a block away. It was inexpensive but had free wifi, and my room had a large bathroom. I had an interior room whose windows overlooked a ventilation "courtyard". It had a nice breeze and was very quiet. We checked in, wandered the university, came back and cleaned up, then went out again for dinner. We ate at a place called The 50's Rock, which was sort of a Spanish version of a 50's American diner. We sat at tables in the street and enjoyed our dinner as the city lights came on. Then we went down to the Plaza Mayor for a drink before going back to the hostal for the night.
