Lodging in Madrid

We are part of the Best of Spain trip in September and will be flying home out of Madrid. Any recommendations for a hotel in Madrid - preferably reasonably close to the airport?
Thanks!

I had a great experience at Hilton Madrid airport last year when flying back home in the morning. The breakfast was one of the best I've seen (I have Hilton points). Felt brand new and modern.
I took the shuttle to and from hotel without a problem.

We have stayed at Sercotel Madrid Aeropuerto, free shuttle to the airport. Local area, local (non-touristy) restaurants within walking distance.

We stayed at the Maydrit Hotel near the airport last year. Great staff, very comfortable hotel, and good restaurant. We were downstairs very early for the shuttle to the airport and before any breakfast/coffee was available. While we were waiting, the front desk person brought, unasked, my husband and me each a cup of coffee. Really good experience in every area. Would definitely stay there again.

I've stayed in the area around the airport a couple of times but more recently we have shifted to just staying in central Madrid and splurging for a taxi. It's maybe 10-15 minutes more travel, but you get to enjoy another night in Madrid vs a soulless airport hotel or business hotel in Barajas. Depending upon the location, the taxi fee might only be €10 more than a Barajas taxi trip. Of course a shuttle is free.
