I booked an apt for our family of five at the Overland Suites. Looking a map, it is slightly out of the area RS recommends, but seems doable in terms of still being able to walk to most places.
Any thoughts on where this is located? Good or bad?

It's central. I've walked around there a little, even late at night (I went to a flamenco performance up the street, and I don't remember anything untoward. It looks even a little closer to the Cathedral than where I stay, in one of the hotels the RS tours use - just in a different direction. According to google maps, it's a 5 minute walk from "my" hotel to your apt.
I have no idea what the RS area includes.
It is a very good location. I went to school quite near there. It is close to everything and a safe area to walk around.

Great - was also planning to take the family to see a flamenco show at Casa de la Memoria. Now, if the apts would take AmEx I would be all set (my Visa charges foreign transaction fees, which is a bummer).
