We have read and looked into winery tours but they are so expensive. Does anyone know of local wineries or cellars we can visit independently in or near Madrid?

1-No, we haven't planned to rent a car, but who knows. We may look into it.

Thanks Wonderful. I read the information on the links. I'm aware they will not be the vineyards or wineries, but tastings are tastings. We love us some wine..lol. We are booked on guided tours with a tour company and only have limited amount of free time. Luckily, we do speak Spanish and will be able to manage IF we find the time to head out of the city.
I really want to thank everyone that has replied. I've been able to plan some trips around the city after our scheduled tours with the information members have provided.
