You can skip paying to standing in a long line in the heat to see St. Jerome's Monastery. It's a large empty white limestone building surrounding an unimposing coutlrtyard and not much else. Go instead into the adjacent free line for the Cathedral where you can see Vasco de Gamma's tomb, beautiful stained glass windows.
