Late September Spain Intinerary Critique

Hi all, I was looking for feedback on my trip for late September. I'm looking for a more leisurely pace rather than trying to cover a ton of ground, and I've already been to Barcelona.

Itinerary :

Day 1: Flight arrives in Madrid from the US at 10am, travel direct to Seville

Day 2: Seville

Day 3: Seville

Day 4: Seville to Granada

Day 5: Granada (Alhambra tickets ordered)

Day 6: Granada

Day 7: Granada to Madrid

Day 8: Madrid

Day 9: Madrid

Day 10: Morning flight from Madrid to USA

Thanks!

It is a workable itinerary. However, in my opinion, any trip to Andalusia should include beautiful Cordoba. When we did this trip, we spent 4 nights in Sevilla, 2 nights in the pueblos blancos region, 2 nights in Granada, 2 nights in Cordoba, 1 night in Toledo and 2 in Madrid. The day I had in Madrid I used for a day trip to Segovia. Madrid is a pretty and lively city, but in my opinion, it doesn't hold a candle to many of the other cities in Spain which have more historical and cultural significance. Unless you are interested in the art museums, and they are "world class", I would reduce your time in Madrid. Another idea would be to reduce Granada by a day. My favorite cities on my trip were Sevilla and Cordoba and my favorite sites were the Mezquita and the Alhambra. If you haven't, watch some videos on Cordoba. The Mezquita, plus the setting on the river, the Jewish old town, the beautiful patio homes. . .It's exquisite!

Itinerary is excellent. On day 9, are you open to do a day trip to Toledo before departure on next day. Toledo is a wonderful charming town. I was going to suggest if you could squeeze in Cordoba as a day trip option from Granada on Day 6, however, you mentioned you don't want to rush the pace and want it to be more leisurely experience. The current itinerary has a more leisurely pace to it and fit your criteria.

Hello from Wisconsin,
I read your plan and thought...Granada or Cordoba? But if it is the Alhambra you want to see, then it must be Granada.

In this forum Read about: the basilika in Granada, Saint John of God. And the Alhambra. Especially about the tickets, just a day or so ago. And a few months ago, about how to use the bus to get up to the entrance.

The temptation is to suggest you add more places. Don't. I think you have a very smart pace for really enjoying the places you have identified. There will always be other places to see, that is why we go back. Next time do the north coast of Spain. It will be so very different than Andalusia.

Looks fine to me. Before going over, check the weather to ensure you pack the correct clothing. On my last trip to southern Spain in September 2014, it was in a heat wave and the temperatures were still near 100 on most days.
