Lanzarote Airport shopping

We want to 'buy' a cactus on our way home from Lanzarote, yet we were told this was impossible due to laws and flight restrictions. However we were advised on a separate occasion that there used to be a an actual cactus shop at the airport? (talk about confusing) https://www.lanzaroteairport.info/duty-free-shopping/

Has anyone been here recently and seen the cactus shop at the airport or even purchased one and brought one back to their country safely and 'legally'?

thanks in advance

if your country is Netherlands, most people here will be familiar with the US - no plant material unless certified - and Australia - even stricter - rules, not the Netherlands rules.

Even so things which look ok can still be singled out for quarantine or treatment or destruction. Ask your government the question.

with Community Guideline number 7 in mind, we won't be providing guidance to evade laws or any other CG7 issue. I mention this noticing your quotes on 'buy' and 'legally'.

I haven’t been to the airport, and haven’t seen any such shop, but if cactus plants are for sale, perhaps they’re mostly for Spanish citizens to take home to the mainland. The retailers aren’t concerned whether the customer can get their cacti to their home country … that’s up to the buyer to know where they’re going, and what rules apply. Anyone skirting the regulations could be in a “sticky” situation.

That is correct more or less. It might not be impossible, but you need a phytosanitary certificate for the cactus to be able to bring it to the Netherlands. And compared to that process, it's probably easier to buy a cactus at home.
