After lots of waffling, I’m going to Spain this month! I’ll land in Madrid on a Sunday and am heading to Alicante, Malaga, or Cadiz by train. I’m looking for beach and a few day trips over the course of 5 days, no car. I’m leaning toward Alicante because I’ve never visited that area, but does anybody know if the recent rains caused damage to tourist areas there or in Murcia? I’d love suggestions for a home base, day trips, and tips on the area! I’ve been to Nerja, Granada, and Seville—loved them—and would like to mix in a little authentic Spain that’s reachable by public transportation or a convenient tour. Thanks!
I imagine it's no longer beach weather.
Based on some video and El Periódico website, the area between Tarragona and Valencia is being inundated with rain with plenty of flooding. The Murcia area got hit a few days ago, also with flooding. Before deciding, ensure that trains are running to where you want to go. El País is reporting that Renfe has canceled trains between Barcelona and Valencia.
Not being there I cannot answer your specific question about whether the tourist areas have been hit hard.
