We are staying 2 weeks in San Sebastian and want to explore wine country for 1 or 2 days.
Suggestions?
Come back and forth to SS or stay there overnight?
Thanks Miki
It is over 2 hours one-way to the heart of Rioja wine country, so I would stay overnight, personally, if you can afford to.
Hi Mikiarbel,
Balso makes a good point.
Also, you might get better responses if you post in the Spain Country Forum.
To get better responses, include when you are going to be there, will you have a car, and other details.
Thank you, we will be there tomorrow, June 18th,with a car
For just a Sunday visit I would try BodegasFranco Espanolas. The may have tours tomorrow before lunch. Possibily in English. Ijalba in logrono might be open. If they are not open you can always go wine tasting in calle drl Laurel.
Make sure that you understand the Spanish impaired driving limits, and how that translates into glasses of wine/hr/person. In some European countries, limits are very low.
How did it go? Did you get caught in the thunderstorm?
Thanks for asking we are leaving for wine country tomorrow, has 2 wine tasting/tours Tuesday and staying overnight in a small village for 80 EUR.
We learned to always have umbrella and sweater in the car so can handle rain.
Miki,
I'd love to hear how your trip went, we've been to SS several times and are going to do a deep dive in Spain later this year. We are wine lovers but have not explored the Rioja region (yet).
Thanks,
Paulette
We visited 3 different wineries,Marques de riscal ,Muga and Baigorri.
They all have different charms.
We stayed overnight in Haro for 80€, was great.
Enjoy your trip.
