We tried getting tickets online @ www.alhambra-tickets and got "error" messages. Anyone know why and how to get through?

A click on "visit" and individual tickets will take you to Ticketmaster.es, which is the official ticket vendor for the Alhambra. Here:

Before you buy, read the details of the different types of tickets available as a number of websites still have the old information of 2 entry times (until 2pm, and after 2 p.m.) this is not longer correct and you can enter any time and stay all day aside from your scheduled Nazrid Palace entry.
Australians seem to have a lot of problems with their credit cards. Americans do too. Amex or Visa cards with Verified by Visa seem best, but it isn't always an easy process.
If buying online fails, you can phone and book over the phone, ask your hotel to book for you, or buy the Granada Card. It is a tourist card with discounts to sites and the Alhambra entry. It costs a bit more, but seems easier to buy on line.

Try using your debit card - I had same problem trying to use my Visa as well as my AmEx (both of which were pre-authorized for use outside US). Finally just used my debit card and it went through...
