Hi I am planing a trip to Barcelona 3 days and Mallorca 6 days I booked a bite close to Deia called Hoposa costa d’or and rent a car July 9-14 , we like beautiful coves and beaches and little villages but also visit some amazing restaurants with a few and some shopping adventures and exploring any recommendations? Not sure if I should stay 3-4 days near Deia and than in Alcudia or just stay all the time near Deia and just take the car to explore the other side of the island . We don’t like crowds or tourists really . We love the Spanish kulture and tradition thank you so much for your help ❤️🥰🌷
I'd definitely stay in Deia. I've no experience of the hotel Hoposa Costa d'or but it looks fabulous and I would certainly rather stay there for 6 days than Alcudia. Besides, you'll have a car and as the majority of the island can be reached within an hour there's no need to move hotels, I'd rather spend the time exploring than packing, checking out, checking in and unpacking.
If you've never been to Deia it's a lovely small village and blissfully quiet and relaxing.
Deia - every day of the week!
Ok how about santaji ? just did my research ant there are not that many beaches on that Deia side but for sure we can take the car and yes we will loose some time and packing makes sense. Do you have any recommendations about Farmer markets , restaurants, cafes and Beaches ? Thank you so much for your reply ❤️where would you stay in Mallorca we like adventure and explore?
Santanyi is a lovely, rustic town in the southwest of the island and is famous for its weekly markets held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You'll find lots of local artists selling clothing, jewellery, ceramics etc as well as fresh produce and it is very popular with Saturdays being the busiest. The town is popular with German tourists and you'll probably find that you're addressed in German by wait staff initially however I'm making an assumption that you may be German so shouldn't encounter any issues in that respect. It's very traditionally Mallorquin so if you're looking for somewhere less touristy then it would fit the bill.
I can't offer any advice about accommodation in Santanyi as it's only a 20 minute drive from where we stay so we've never had reason to stay there.
Good beaches within easy reach of Santanyi are Sa Rapita, Es Trenc and Estanys. Es Trenc is by far the most popular and gets very busy particularly on weekends so I prefer Sa Rapita. Sa Rapita also has better parking provision than Es Trenc and there are some nice short hiking trails through the national park.
Very great advice thank you and how about rental car electric or gas ? 😅🥰🚗🌬️🌬️🌬️
Where would you stay in Mallorca ? 🥰
Very great advice thank you and how about rental car electric or gas ?
That all depends on the availability of a charger at your accommodation. If it didn't have one I'd go for gas.
As for where I would stay I would recommend your idea of Santanyi. It's not too touristy or busy (other than on market day), there are nice beaches within easy reach however it doesn't have the spectacular views that Deia has.
Ok so you recommend to stay in Santa santaji instead of the Hoposa Cala d’or near Deia We have a car and love the beach it’s for my 19 year old daughter and me but don’t like any commercial or tourist places?
Neither Santanyi or Deia are touristy or commercial places, very few places in Mallorca could be considered such however they are very different places. Deia is in the mountains, is very quiet and peaceful and offers fantastic views however nearby beaches aren't that great. Santanyi is in the south, is not as attractive as Deia but is still reassuringly Mallorquin in architecture and ambience and the nearby beaches are amongst the best on the island. Both require a car to fully benefit what the island has to offer.
I really couldn't say that one is better than the other as they both have their own charm and attraction but considering you can be pretty much anywhere on the island within an hours drive the location becomes less important.
