Itinerary recommendation our family traveling to Portugal and Spain

Hello all,
My wife and I along with our 7 year old daughter and 4 year old son will be flying into Lisbon in July. We will have approximately 1 week (7 days) for this itinerary as on day 8 we need to fly to London to join up with two other families for a relaxing stay in London and a little travel in Scotland. For our Portugal/Spain travel. I was thinking about the following:
Lisbon (3 days) start journey
Seville and Cordoba (3- days) fly to Seville from Lisbon
Last day fly to London from Seville

Anyone have any alternate recommendations? Any word of advise would be greatly appreciated.

We did Paris and Barcelona two years ago and the kids loved the European experience. I hope to build on it from this trip.

Thanks all!
Sachin

To fly from Lisbon to Sevilla will require a change in Madrid if you want to keep it cheap. If you want direct, it will likely be 3X the price. Unfortunately, Portugal and Spain are not connected very well. If it were me, I'd spend the whole time in Andalucía.

With limited time I'd concentrate on one or the other, Spain or Portugal.

Fly in to Madrid (3 nights) with day trip to Toledo
Train to Sevilla (3 nights) with day trip to Cordoba
Fly to London

Some great ideas. I'm starting to realize getting to Seville from Lisbon is going to quite expensive on a direct flight, and I'll lose the whole day in connection flights. Yikes. I really wanted to hit Seville. Maybe I should reconsider and stay in Portugal the entire stay and just fly straight to London from Lisbon on day 7.

Coimbra and Porto (by high speed train) could be added to Lisbon. A number of flights per day from Porto to London.

Sevilla will be HOT in July! Average daily high of ~96 F. Cordoba has an average daily high of ~98 F. I would try to visit them on another trip during a different time of year.

As for alternate recommendations in Spain: San Sebastian and Bilbao, in Basque Country, should be very pleasant in July.

Otherwise, a few more days in Portugal (Coimbra, Porto, the Algarve, etc...) would be very convenient from Lisbon.

You could also fly to a destination further north (Amsterdam, Bruges / Brussels, etc...) for a few days and have a very short flight to London on the 8th day of your trip.

Have fun!
