Itinerary packed, but perfect? Or too much?

I am introducing my daughter to Spain & Paris, to give her the travel bug :) She is 14. Is this a do-able itinerary?

We fly into Barcelona 6/17, out of Paris 7/2. What should we cut or add? How about Paris day-tripping suggestions?

June 17-22:Barcelona,Tossa,Cadaques,Sitges,Girona; June 22-26 Seville ,Vejer de la Frontera, Carmona, Castilla Y Leon, Arcos de La Frontera, Ronda - 1 overnight?, Granada-Alhambra-1 full day ; June 26-July 2-Paris & tbd.

Yes, sounds FUN, but very aggressive. If what you are trying to do is give her the travel bug, you want her to really enjoy what she's seeing, versus traveling TO what she's seeing. I would continue to read articles on your itinerary and narrow it down by perhaps cutting out one stop (or more) in each area. Relative to Paris, I would include Normandy beach, perhaps stay over night and stop by the Monet sights on the way back to the city.

Too much in too short of a time is my first thought. It is a long flight from wherever to Barcelona., and both will need a chance to get your breath. I would leave out one or two of the towns you have listed there as there is a great deal to see in Barcelona proper. From Barcelona to Sevilla, there is a 3 1/2 hour train ride to Madrid and then a 2 1/2 hour train ride (both AVE highspeed and comfortable), that that is 6 hour travel. You might fly, but with the security, etc., you will spend almost the same time to get from Barcelona to Sevilla.. Alhambra should be a full day if possible. I would go slower, spend more time in each place you visit and relax a bit. But whatever you do, I am sure you will enjoy Spain, the country and the people!!

Is this her first trip to Europe?

Your itinerary may leave her with more memories of transportation than of experiences.
Is this an itinerary typical of your own travel experiences?

Choose to stay in one place in Barcelona for XX nights. Strive to do things a 14 year old girl will enjoy. Less on museums, more on activities, time at the beach and some shopping. Bargains can be found for inexpensive blouses which make for a great wearable memory and allow her to show off some of her trip to friends (better than photos). Allow time for window shopping. Stay up late at night, past midnight, and go Tapas hopping and be adventurous with tasting a variety of Tapas and provide a taste of Cava Sangria. Take a day trip to Montserrat, ez day trip via train. Parc Guell, Sagrada, Casa Battlo, Plaza Catalunya, El Cortes dept store, Palau de musica. We have done this with our daughter's at a similar age. Rent an apt for less money than a hotel and have more room to spread out and a kitchen.

Take the RENFE AVE to Madrid for XX nights. Take the time to visit one of the best museums in Europe, The Prado. Then walk up to Retiro Park where you can rent a boat for a joint row together. Take a day trip to Toledo.

Jump back on the AVE and head to Seville. AVE travel is excellent, buy second class tickets at a huge discount on line. Stay XX days in Seville. An excellent place for Flamenco.

From Seville fly to Paris where you can rent an apt. Stay the remainder of your trip and take some day trips. Visit a variety of districts and look for some additional bargains.

Have fun, focus on activities and create some wonderful memories. Less destinations provides more opportunities. Keep in mind the saying "Better to teach someone how to fish........" the same thought applies to travel.

Thank you! I meant to indicate 5 days in each city with a few well chosen side trips. Choosing the side trips is becoming very difficult. I have narrowed it down to Tossa & Sitges (maybe Figueres or Tarragona or a rental car to drive up coast of Costa Brava) from Barc; Ronda & Granada (maybe Cordoba instead? Not sure she will love the tour of Alhambra) from Seville; and, none in Paris yet - but I did buy ballet tickets for the Garnier. Anyone have favorite suggestions (and why) for the side trips from Barc, Seville and Paris? My friend and her daughter who are coming with us, speaks fluent Spanish, so a car maybe an option for a day.

I am not seeing 5 days per destination, I am seeing more like 4 with a travel day between each one.

That is still not a bad plan but if you are going to see the great cities on your itinerary you won't have much time for day trips.

Appears to me you have 15 nights in hotels. I'd be tempted to stay in four places with Barcelona 4 nights and Paris 4 nights. Then do 4 and 3 in the two others. Plan your trip so you don't backtrack. Another alternative is 5 nights in each location with the third being Seville. FYI Madrid is well worth a visit!

I haven't been to Spain so can't address that, but have been to Paris three times. By then you may be tired and just want to enjoy the sights of the CIty. That can easily take 4 days! 1/2 day for the Louvre, if you want to see the Eiffel tower another 1/2 day. Versailles is easily a full day. You can reach everything by public transportation - train or bus. There is SO much to see in the city you don't need to go anywhere else. Normandy is a LONG way away, I would do that another trip.

I am a Chateau junkie. I stayed in a timeshare for a week outside of Paris and we did rent a car and drove to Giverny - long drive it is almost 2 1/2 hours, also went to Fountainbleau, another day trip, as well as back to Versailles (which I LOVE!) and some other chateaus which we drove to. Each day we did a driving trip and saw what we couldn't see when we stayed in the City. This was the third trip to Paris.

Paris is wonderful, don't plan too much, just enjoy the sights and sounds and tastes of this wonderful city!

There is one Chateau that can be reached from Paris by train and would take almost a day: Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte What was so fun was after seeing it we then watched the movie "Count of Monte Cristo" - the recent remake, and recognized many scenes which were filmed there! It is worth the day trip. Look it up online.

I then spent another week down in the Loire Valley, rented a car and went Chateau hopping. We saw as many as two chateaus in a day. I figured I may never do this again. The problem with that was sometimes we went through so fast I didn't really see everything, and now, years later it is all a blur! So take the time to go a little slower and savor it!
