Itinerary feedback Madrid-Sevilla-Valencia-Ibiza mid-March

I am a college student with previous international travel experience, traveling with a friend to Spain in mid-March.

I have an open jaw flight arriving in Madrid on Mar 8, departing from Ibiza Mar 16. (Made this reservation before realizing Ibiza is mostly closed in March.) I have friends studying abroad in Sevilla and Valencia. My current itinerary is as follows:

Arrive Madrid afternoon of Mar 8
Depart Madrid by train morning of Mar 11 and arrive Sevilla in afternoon
Sevilla for Mar 11-13
Depart Sevilla evening of Mar 13 and arrive Valencia later in the evening*
Valencia for Mar 14-15
Depart Valencia by air to Ibiza morning of Mar 15; day in Ibiza
Depart Ibiza for US on morning of Mar 16

*I've been looking for an AVE train between Sevilla and Valencia but have been unable to find one, I suspect because of the Las Fallas festival happening in Valencia. I'm looking at RyanAir and Iberia Air flights.

I know this is a big itinerary considering time on the ground. I've committed to visiting these cities, but I'm open to suggestions for amount of time spent in each place and best travel routes/methods between cities. I particularly welcome suggestions for travel between cities, as that is where I am having the hardest time. Would like to hear others' experiences of air travel within Spain. And if anyone has experience with or knowledge of hostels in these places, I'd love to hear about that, too. Thanks so much!

I don't think you have enough time in Sevilla. I personally would take time from Madrid. You will find Sevilla to quite fun and lively. If you plan to see the Alcazar in Sevilla (and I'd recommend it), be sure to purchase advance tickets. I suspect you can't find an AVE train between Sevilla to Valencia because you probably have to go thru Madrid someone else will know better.

Your plan seems far too rushed, but so far as the missing AVE train from Sevilla to Valencia, there is currently one direct one that leaves Sevilla at 1825, getting in a bit after 10 o'clock so in time for dinner. Otherwise you need a slow train or change on route.

Nick, I have seen reference to the direct AVE train from Sevilla to Valencia, but I have not been able to book it through Eurail or Renfe. It doesn't show up when I search for that route. Is there a specific website you use to find this train? Thank you!

It shows on Renfe up to 3rd March, but not any later. Which probably means they haven't loaded the tickets up yet for later in the month (Renfe are bad at doing this). I'd keep checking for when they get added as it could happen any time.
