Itinerary and Transportation Help Please!

My son is studying in Madrid. We are visiting for 7 nights, arrival March 22 and departure March 29 from Madrid. I need you advice! I’m thinking Seville (2 nights) with a side trip to Cadiz, Cordoba (2 nights) and possibly Granada (2 nights). The Alhambra has very few tickets left, and only with garden tour. We’d finish in Madrid for a night prior to flying home.

Several questions: we enjoy nature more than crowds, wondering if there is a better place to go than Granada? Also, we will be there during Semana Santa; how crazy is this and any advice? Finally, trains or rental car? Not sure how difficult it is to navigate with the car vs. train.

Realizing it’s a quick trip, we want to be efficient but enjoyable! Thank you for your expertise!

2 nights in Seville without side trips is hardly enough. I would stay with Madrid-Seville-Cordoba itinerary and do a day trip to Toledo. you can do all that via train.

If, and that's a big IF, you can get tickets to the Nasrid Palaces at the Alhambra, that's where you show go ! Nature is wonderful, but the Alhambra is magnificent, breathtaking.
2 nights Granada, 2 Cordoba, 2 Seville is the way to go.

We got our Alhambra ticket through our hotel in Granada. Skip Cadiz -- personally don't think it is worth the time to get there. Save it for a more convenient time. And Cordoba can be done on one night.
