I am planning an 11 day trip to Spain. I plan to fly into Madrid and spent 4 days with side trips to Segovia and Toledo. Then train to Seville for 3 days with day trip to Cordoba. Finally 3 days in Malaga. Is this a good itinerary? Should I make adjustments or add a stop somewhere?
After reading some of the replies, I'm thinking:
3 full days in Madrid
2 days in Toledo
3 days in Sevilla
2 days in Granada
day to take train to Malaga to fly out the following morning (1 day in Malaga)
That's fine.
My reservation is that if you've never been to Spain before, 2 days in Sevilla isn't enough and 2 days dedicated to Madrid is a bit lacking as well. But, if you really want to see Malaga and Cordoba, I understand because those are great places to visit.
I think you might be better served just doing Madrid and Sevilla with day trips on an 11 day trip.
Good plan, but while I liked Malaga, to me it was not on the same level with your other places you mentioned.
Consider skipping Malaga and add days to Seville and Cordoba.
I have not been to Malaga, but 11 days (nights?) split between Madrid and Seville would be a good amount of time, and would give you time to see the cities plus enjoy those daytrips. I wouldn't shortchange Seville as it's a beautiful city that could fill several days in addition to a daytrip to Cordoba.
I think you are a day heavy in Malaga and advise adding a day in Ronda.
One to two full days in Malaga is about right depending on which sites you want to visit and what time of day you arrive in town.
We flew out of Malaga yesterday and it takes about 25 minutes to get to the airport from town. We stayed at the Parador up by the castle and had a rental car.
I would skip Madrid (!) unless you are an art fan. If you'll be happy spending the better part of 2 days wallowing in European art (I've done it twice and planning to do it a third time in December- so I'm not at all disparaging it), there's just much more that's special and different in all your other locations.
Cordoba is my favorite Spanish city and day-trippers miss so much of what makes it special. But if you are set on spending time in Madrid, I don't see where you could fit it in.
I haven't been to Segovia. I really liked Toledo, but my visit was in low season for a day and a half (2 nights).
As long as you are flying out of Malaga, you might as well enjoy the city for a day rather than arriving in the evening. I assume you have 2 or 3 nights in Granada so you have a day for the Alhambra.
