Itenary help for Spain in October

Hi,

We are 4 adults, 3 seniors (79 years probably will need wheel chair, cannot walk for more then 5 minutes) , 75 and 65 Years) and my son 40 Years. We are not interested in Museums or beaches.

We will arrive In Barcelona on 4 Oct at 11 AM from Toronto and will return back from Barcelona on 14 Oct at noon (10 Days) . Like to visit Barcelona Madrid, Seville, Cordoba, Granada and back to Barcelona . Need help planning best route and how many days to spend using Trains and maybe flight.

With 10 days, including travel days, you really don’t have much time for 5 destinations. You can do Cordoba as a day trip from Seville. Each of the other cities deserve multiple nights.

Can you fly into Barcelona and out of Madrid? Or vice versa? It will save you a lot of time and money backtracking a long distance.

Maneuvering with the wheelchair will be a challenge. Watch some videos of each of the cities so you know what to expect. Can this person walk up a few steps to access the train? And manage stairs within the train stations?

With 10 nights, I would maybe do something like this. It is fast paced, but would allow you to visit all of the places you mentioned.

Madrid - 2 nights (train to Madrid immediatly after landing in Barcelona)

Sevilla - 3 nights, with day trip to Cordoba (2:45 hour train from Madrid)

Granada 2 nights (3 hour train from Sevilla)

Barcelona - 3 nights (fly from Granada)

@Dawn
I like your Itenary you have suggested

Land in Barcelona and take train to Madrid, Stay 2 night in Madrid.

Would it be Ok to take train to Cordoba and stay a night instead of 3 nights in Seville ?

Next day take train to Seville for 2 nights.

Then to Granada for 2 nights

Fly from Granada to Barcelona for 3 Nights

"Like to visit Barcelona Madrid, Seville, Cordoba, Granada and back to Barcelona ."

WAY too much to cover in 9 full days and two days on beginning and end that will be of little value touring due to jet lag and logistics of setting up and departing to airport.

If you visit Madrid, you must also visit Toledo (in my opinion the gem of Spain) and Segovia. You can do each on day trips from Madrid. Also, need minimum of two full days in Madrid. (need 4 nights there).

Seville is amazing and needs 3 nights and days.

Barcelona is a must since your flight arrives and departs from there, so do the 3 days there.

Take the high speed train from Barcelona to Madrid. Also, you can take another high speed train from Madrid to Seville.

Save Cordoba and Granada for your next trip.

Hamid,

Yes, if you don't mind changing hotels an extra time, I think staying one night in Cordoba on the way to Seville makes perfect sense.

Hi,
As some of our friends suggested that we should head directly from Barcelona to Madrid after landing rather then stay in Barcelona Therefore just booked flight by Iberia departing BCN at 12:30 but the concern is we will land at BCN at 10:25 and have to rush to catch flight at 12:30 Is it enough time ? we do have a person on wheelchair which could speed us because they normally are allowed first.

It's probably ok but it would worry me. You'll have to go through customs so 3 hours would be safer.
Also I have to say I hope you decided to postpone the southern Spain cities and slow down a bit. My husband and I, who are mid-40s, very active and frequent international travelers did a similar Seville/Cordoba/Granada itinerary two years ago and we were very tired in Granada. I can't imagine that pace with 3 seniors. Also consider that Oct. can be very warm; I went shopping to buy shorts in Sevilla. And we're not from Canada....we live in Phoenix!
