We are trying to find that best way to get from Sevilla to Lagos. Is there train that can take us from Sevilla to Lagos? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Nope. You would have to take a bus operated by Flixbus.com
Or take a bus Seville to Faro and then the train Faro to Lagos

Thanks! Do you recommend that we buy the bus tickets in advance or can we got to the bus station the day of travel and buy tickets?

Since there looks to be only 2 buses a day I would buy advance but that depends on when the trip is.

In general, I don't like to wait till the day of travel to buy tickets on border-crossing buses. There tend not to be very many of them, and you just never know when one of them will fill early.

I would prefer to walk than use Flixbus. They have a poor reputation and I have nearly been run off the road twice with their drivers using mobile phones whilst driving, putting their passengers and other road users lives at risk.
There are numerous buses from Seville to Faro. You can then take the train to Lagos. To explore the Algarve, you really need a car, so take the bus to Faro and hire a car there.
