I can't tell just how extensive the Park Güell conservation/renovation work is to tourists. I will be visiting in September 2022. So far, I haven't found much information about the current status of the project online. Can anyone tell me if this restoration work will interfere with a first-time visit? Thanks.
With so many monuments in the city, some dating back centuries, there are always one or another being renovated. But renovations in monuments (almost) never affect the whole of the structure. Most times, it's done in stages, affecting part of it (in a park, or a church for example) so visitors (local and foreign) can continue visiting the site. This is the case with Park Güell.
This month, for example, one of the main spires of the Cathedral in the Old Town is being restored, and it's covered by an advertising canvas... ruining an otherwise iconic photo opportunity.... to the horror of some visitors. But the Cathedral continues to be open both for masses and for visits, of course.
