iPad / Google maps good enough for driving in Andalusia?

Or are there better non-GPS alternatives?

Thanks in advance

I used a Michelin map for Andalusia. Even though the roads are well-signed, I used the map to plan my routes and to consult occasionally during the drives. BUT it gets tricky when you are in the towns. I had to return a car in Cordoba and had a terrible time of it. I had Google directions, but there was roadwork on the highway on the city's outskirts, so my directions were useless. I spent a lot of time driving around with a city map from a previous visit, trying to get to the train station to return the car - silly me, I expected at that point that there would be signs indicating the direction to the train station. Then when I did find the station, I drove around it (3 or 4 times, at a good 5 minutes each) until I finally found the car rental return - which was in the BUS station across the street from the TRAIN station, and only a teeny tiny sign for the turn. I picked up the car in Seville and also had a difficult time finding the road I needed. On my first trip to Andalusia, again with a car part of the time, I had a little trouble getting out of Jerez and a lot of trouble in Granada because of extensive road works in the city itself, which all started when I missed the turn to the street my hotel was in, because it was so tiny, I didn't think it was a street!

I rely on GPS apps for the iPhone - Co-Pilot and Navigon - and, I always have a back up Michelin map. Google uses a data which I don't activate while visiting Europe. Our past 8 trips have included Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Slovakia, Hungry, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain & France. Send me a PM if you've other questions. Wishing you safe travels.

As I don't want to use my data plan in Europe, I used a Michelin map for the countryside and small towns. But printed out the turn by turn directions on Via Michelin for the bigger towns. We drove out of Granada and into Sevilla and had no problems using the directions I had printed out. For the smaller towns, we just looked for signage when we were entering the town.
