Hi. We live in Spain and regularly have weekends away to discover the real Spain. We’ve done all the usual places but wondered if anyone could recommend an unlikely gem or two that they’ve discovered. Inland or coastal.
Where do you live in Spain, and how will you traveling?
As already asked, it depends on where you live. There are a plethora of small towns or small cities worth visiting.
As hinted at, how you’re traveling will determine the responses since many small towns and villages are not well served by public transportation and where a car may be a better option.
In Spain, there are magical villages practically throughout the entire country. But as an expert on Barcelona, here are some you can visit near this city: Montblanc, Mura, Tossa de Mar, Cadaqués, Sitges, and Besalú, among others.
Great stuff! Thanks for your knowledge. We live in Moraira on the Costa blanca so the Granada suggestions are lovely, thank you. We’ll also look at the Barcelona suggestions when we have a long weekend away.
