Dear friends. We are in Cordoba for just under 36 hours. I hadn't realised all the hassle to get to Medina Azahara and I see some people saying it's overrated. I must admit I am wondering if it is worth it especially as we have so little time and no car. What are the absolute must see in Cordoba apart from Mezquita? And given our time limit and bad weather should we leave out Medina? Thanks 😊
If you don't have a guide to explain and flesh out what you're seeing, don't go to Medina Azahara. Some of my faves in the city are Casa de Sefarad in the Juderia very close to the Mezquita, the Museo Vivo de al-Andalus in the Calahorra Tower just across the bridge from the Mezquita (and a nice view from the rooftop) and the Palacio de Viana with its 12 patios (skip the house tour) that's about a 20 minute walk from the Mezquita.
Thanks so much.
I’ll be visiting it later this spring, as well as the nearby castle. I will have a rental car that will make it easier to get around. Having been to Córdoba a few times, Medina-Azahara is one of the few places I haven’t been to.
Not sure when your trip is, but I’ll mention it in a trip report when I return.
When my mom and I visited Córdoba we enjoyed the Royal Equestrian Show.

Wishing you a wonderful trip!
Thanks all. Our trip is literally now. We decided not to include Azahara. For one thing the weather is pretty bad. The city is gorgeous and has a lot to offer on its own. A bit annoyed by our hotel but I guess we should have expected it from a two star one.
