Impromptu visit in 10 weeks--travel warriors--I need help!

Our daughter will be studying abroad in Sevilla for three months. My husband just decided that we can visit her in Nov. (yes, only 10 weeks away) We are looking at flying Wed. Nov 4 and staying until Mon Nov 16th. :-) We have never been to Spain, but are thinking about flying into Barcelona and have our daughter meet us there for a few days before heading to Sevilla. Any suggestions for days in Barcelona and then traveling to Sevilla would be greatly appreciated. We certainly want to make a trip to Granada. We have a blank slate that needs some desperate help!!!! I know this is the place that can help me for sure. THANKS!!

I think you need to choose your sandwich filling, given your 2 slices of bread are Barcelona and Sevilla.
Plan A) AVE train from Barcelona (4 nts) to Madrid (3 nts), then AVE train to Sevilla (4 nts).
Plan B) Fly from Barcelona (4 nts) to Granada (3 nts), then train or bus to Sevilla (4 nts)

You could make a club sandwich, including both Madrid and Granada, but you may find the filling a bit 'light on'.
Barcelona (3 nts) Madrid (3 nts) Granada (2 nts) Sevilla (3 nts)

Don't miss Cordoba for anything. (thanks Bets, I meant to mention Cordoba)

Barcelona is a great place, you have Sagrada Familia as a suggestion, add Parc Gurell, Ramblas and the beach, also a day trip to Montserrat,it is amazing. There is also the fortress on top of the hill.I will be in Seville in October,go to the Cathedral and Alcazar.

Barcelona is a great choice. I enjoyed one of the TI's walking tours and would have done more. Get tickets in advance for La Sagrada Familia, for the first entrance time, and line up 15-30 minutes before that. Then you'll be among the first ones in and can enjoy the quiet, nearly empty church (and take nearly people-less photos). An hour later, it will be very crowded and quite loud.

You can then take a direct train (under 5 hrs) to Cordoba and spend 2 nights. The Mezquita is the second best sight in Spain. Cordoba has other sights as well and is a lovely place to spend 2 evenings.

From there it's just over 2 hrs by train to Granada for 2 nights. Get advanced tickets for the Alhambra (they sell out, even in November). You can visit the Nasrid Palaces in the evening, then spend as much time as you want visiting the entire site the next day. The Palaces look much different after dark and in daylight, you won't regret seeing them twice. On the second evening take a combined walking tour of the Albaicin and sambra performance or just go to see sambra on your own.

Then you have a 3.5 hour train ride to Seville.

I count 11 nights. That gives you 7 to split between Barcelona and Seville. I'd recommend 4, then 3.

Use the official train website, renfe.com, to plan your schedule. Read this excellent article on tripadvisor.com first to learn the ins and outs of using the website.

Fly in to Barcelona - 3 or 4 nights should be good to cover Parc Guell, barri Gothic old town, Gaudi buildings- Casa Batlo, La Pederra, barcelona beach, Sagradia Familia, Picasso Museum ( must see), La Boqueria, Monsteratt ( day trip) should easily fill 4 days. Book your tickets in advance for all the sites esp Sagradia Familia, Picasso Museum, Parc Guell etc to save time and energy.

You should fly out to Granada by Vueling, very cheap flights from BCN to GRX, Granada you can easily do 3 nights, with a Alhambra tickets booked now or else you wont have a chance seeing it without a expensive tour group.

From Granada you can take a bus to Santa Ana Antquerra and then a train to Sevilla for the remaining time - 5 nights.

You can do Cordoba as a day trip from Seville. Seville is a beautiful city with lots to offer - flamenco show, bull fights, cathedral , Alcazar, shopping, Macarena and Triana area. You can also look into other day trips from Seville

THANKS to all the great comments! I think I will save Madrid for later and just stick with Barcelona and around Sevilla (not missing Cordoba or Granda!)
