Hi Looking to book flight home to Miami from Dubrovnik..The only 1 stop option seems to be on Iberia thru Madrid with a 50 minute layover. It's Dubrovnik - Madrid - Miami.
We will have checked baggage. Is this do-able?
Are both flights in the same terminal? ( both flights are Iberia )
Do we have to go through passport control in Madrid?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It appears to be tight but if the airline books it they view it as adequate and are responsible for the transfer. And, of course, if everything is on time. If a delay it is possible they would hold the plane for you and others. We have had that happen before. On a connecting international flight they might delay the flight long enough for you to make it.
Personally, I wouldn't risk it. It's been over a decade since I was on a flight that was held for late-arriving connecting passengers. And I've missed my connecting flight a few times because my first flight - on the same airline- was late.
When is this flight? I looked at Iberia's web site and my random search only turned up one 1-stop option on a Sunday with a 55 minute layover. The inbound plane lands at terminal 4 and you depart from 4S. If everything is on-time, 50-55 minutes is enough but you have to head straight to the Miami bound flight. All of the other flights appear to be an overnight connection or a 2-stop flight. Turkish has a flight with an overnight connection through Istanbul and the one-way price is $625 on google flights.
