I can’t get tickets to Alahambra!

So I wanted to do gardens by day and Palaces by night, but everything is booked for Sept 17th
My itinerary is 1. ) Madrid 2.) 3) .Ronda 4.)Nerja 5) Granada to back to Madrid
Should I skip Granada and travel to Córdoba from Neruda and back up to Madrid for a few more days?if I skip the Alahambra and travel to Córdoba then back to Madrid?

We just booked a guided tour of Alhambra online in June. The tour company had plenty of tickets, and we spent 3 hard hours climbing steps. If someone is not very mobile, it's a tough but well worth it tour to take.

Some times you hotel in Granada will have access to the Alhambra tickets. Give them a call.

Thank you for your reply’s. If we don’t get tickets, is Granada worth visiting without the Alahambra tour?

Yep the 1st two tapas are free in the bars with each drink you order.
You can still see the Alhambra from outside. But if you have trouble with steep climbs no.

Awe, tickets are available through the right channels. Tour companies lap them up.
We loved Granada and stayed in an apartment for three nights. Got a chance to see the real city up close and personal.
Checkout going to see the Gypsies' flamingo dancing--in their caves. The dancers also get up close and personal to the spectators. I understand it's well worth going to see.

Although I consider Granada worthwhile for reasons other than the Alhambra, the latter is without doubt the main reason for visiting Granada. And Granada is a bit time-consuming to reach. I'd be inclined to postpone Granada if I had other major Andalucian cities still on my To See list.

Cordoba is great. To me it's worth two days (3 nights). And it's geographically convenient for any southern-Spain itinerary.

And what about Seville? Have you been there on an earlier trip? It's a large city with many great sights. Worth at least 3 days (4 nights), I think.

Madrid has a lot of excellent day-trips if you aren't interested in art and run out of points of interest in the city itself: Toledo, Segovia, Cuenca (rail fare could be expensive at this point), Alcala de Henares. I wasn't impressed by Avila.

I do like Ronda (haven't been to Nerja), but really there's no comparison between Ronda and Cordoba/Seville. I'd rank it behind Toledo and Segovia, too--plus Cuenca (another town with a gorge) if you happen to like modern art.

Kelmo,

I just checked the Alhambra website and there are a few Dobla de Oro General tickets available for September 16.

Don’t know if this date will work for you.
If so, book those tickets ASAP!

Enjoy your trip!

There's a lot to see at the Alhambra. The night visit to the Nasrid Palaces is only to see those rooms and not all of them are open for the evening visit. The Generalife is another beautiful building complex. There are several other edifices worth seeing during the day. Parts of the complex, including most of the gardens are open to the public and do not require a ticket - at least that was true when I was there several years ago. The tickets entitle you to enter/visit the 3 largest most impressive places.

I love Cordoba, and the Mezquita is a must-see, whether you go to Granada or not.

You now must buy a ticket for the Generalife, Alcazaba and gardens at the Alhambra if you want to see them (presumably because you can't get a ticket that covers the Nasrid Palaces). Even those more-limited tickets sometimes sell out. That was the case on the day of my visit in early May.

I don't know whether there's anything you can see on the Alhambra grounds these days without a ticket of some sort.

Yes Granada is worth visiting. Anybody can tour the Alhambra complex without a ticket. You just won’t be able to go inside the Nasrid Palace. If nobody is checking for tickets, which has happened, you can visit the gardens too.
