We will be in Madrid, staying near the Prado for 5 days, then need to get to the town of Barca d'Alva. Anyone know the best way to travel there? Thanks so much. Peggy

Looks fairly tricky, taking 5+ hrs and requiring a bus to the frontier and then a car for the last 15 miles, maybe you can hire a car at the frontier to take you into Portugal, does your river cruise give an instructions?

Perhaps train to Salamanca and then a private driver into Portugal to your destination?
