How to get around in Basque Country

The most important airport is Bilbao, so you may want to look at the new direct flight from Newark.

I see it's on United, but it is only in high season.

Nevertheless, great news!! For that flight, I'd even make the trek to Newark!!

I fly out of JFK and have always flown Iberia,, via Madrid, to either Bilbao, San Sebastián, or Santander.
You could also look into TAP, via Lisbon. There are inexpensive flights from Lisbon to Bilbao on Vueling.

But there are lots of options, with connection in European countries other than Spain. Or in London.

Bilbao airport is close to the city. It's not huge, so it was pretty easy to navigate. San Sebastian airport is actually near Hondarribia. Once you get there, you will probably want a car to get around.
