how to fit in a side trip to Toledo

Hello,

our family of 5 are scheduled to visit Madrid and Andalucia for 9 nights. Our schedule is mostly set and all hotel bookings are done. We are going to be in Cordoba for one night on May 3rd before leaving for Madrid on May 4th so we can take our flight back to the US at 11 am on May 5th.

We were wondering if we would be able to squeeze in a day trip to Toledo on the way to Madrid on May the 4th? We will be staying at a airport hotel in Madrid on May4th.

I would just hate to waste the day on May 4th just travelling from Cordoba to Madrid airport hotel but am not sure we would have enough time to toledo.

If you leave Córdoba in the morning, you should have time to visit Toledo for a few hours.

You can leave your luggage at the Atocha train station before going to Toledo. There are frequent trains to Toledo and the journey only takes about 30 minutes.

Does the airport hotel offer a free shuttle to the airport? If so, you could take the C-1 or C-10 Cercanías train from Atocha to Terminal 4 and arrange for the shuttle to take you to the hotel. This is exactly what my mom and I did when our trip ended in Toledo and we had an early afternoon flight home the following day.

Thanks for your reply Priscilla. That sounds quite doable. Yes the hotel does have a free shuttle so we can ask them infact to pick us up from terminal 4 at the end of the day. Great idea. Thanks

I guess my question is when are you seeing anything in Madrid? There is plenty to do and see there, spending an additional 2-3 hours of travel getting to Toledo and back might just be better spent in Madrid. If your itinerary has several nights in Madrid already, you might consider a day trip one of those days rather than cramming it in last minute.

We are spending 2 nights in madrid at the beginning or our trip. We figured we may not need to go back into the city on May the 4 th just to hang out that evening.
