How much travel time would you allow?

We'll be traveling from Salamanca to Madrid (most likely to Chamartin train station). We'll check in to our hotel by the airport, so we can leave our luggage and have a short break, then meet a tour guide in Plaza Santa Ana at 4:00 pm. My plan is to take a train from Chamartin to the airport (I think there's a direct line), then the hotel shuttle from the airport. To get to Santa Anna from our hotel, I'm thinking Uber or taxi would be best. If we left Salamanca at around noon, do you think we could make the 4pm tour? I want to maximize our time in Salamanca, so I don't want to leave too early :)

You need to take a look at the actual train schedule for your planned travel date, or the same day of the week if it's too far in the future to be visible on Renfe.com. What I see for Thursday is that there's a fast ALVIA departing at 10:50 AM, arriving at 12:26 PM, which allows plenty of time unless there is a strange and severe delay. The next departure is not until 12:28 PM and is a slower Media Distancia train, arriving at 3:09 PM--obviously not giving you enough time.

It appears that the trains from Salamanca do go to Chamartin.

Thanks for the reply. That's what's scheduled for the day we'll be in Salamanca as well (I had forgotten that I looked it up until you mentioned it- haha). I know there are busses, but they don't seem to show up on trainline. Does anyone know how to find a bus schedule?

Okay, new question: Has anyone taken the Avanza bus? It shows there's an express bus right to the airport. It would still leave at 11 am, but it's more direct for where we need to go in Madrid.
