How can someone go from Barcelona, Spain to Malta

Hi,
First , I am interested in going from Barcelona to Malta, and cannot find flights that go and arrive in the daytime or early evening.

Secondly, I am interested if there are trains from San Sebastian that you can take to Madrid, that stop in interesting cities, where we might stay a night or two so we could break up our trip and not have it be a seven hour train ride.

If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it.

Is a non stop dep 810 arriving 1020 not 'daytime'? Skyscanner.com shows a Ryanair flight, BCN-MLA with that schedule

It seems to depend on what day of the week you're looking at flying. Some days only have flights arriving later in the evening. It may also depend on the month. When are you going?

Barcelona to Malta isn't going to be like, say, New York to Chicago, with multiple flights throughout the day at almost any time you want. You will have to take what's available; look at Skyscanner for your travel date to see the options: https://www.skyscanner.com/

We just were in San Sebastian. We took a detour to Salamanca on our way to Madrid- train San Sebastian to Salamanca (we had to switch trains in Villadolid, so it took longer, but they do have direct trains at 9:00 pm that are shorter), spend the night, bus to Madrid (2 1/2 hours). It was SOO worth the detour, although I'll admit our train route was not the most fun.

I haven't been to the other towns mentioned but I am so in love with Salamanca! A walking tour would be worth your time, because there's so much history and architecture that you'll get more out of the experience if you know the stories.

One morning and one afternoon direct train between San Sebastian and Madrid Chamartín station each take only 5.5 hours. Another midday option with a connection at Palencia also takes 5.5 hours.

There are at least two different routes for trains from San Sebastian to Madrid. One goes through Pamplona and Zaragoza. The other, through Vitoria-Gasteiz, Burgos, Valladolid and Segovia. I haven't been to Valladolod, and Segovia is a viable day-trip from Madrid. V-G and Burgos are both very interesting.
