We're thinking about spending a couple of nights in Figueres in October. Does anyone have a favorite hotel or B&B? The Hotel Pirineos has caught my eye, as has the Divino. Close to the Dalí museum would be a plus, as would breakfast available. Anything under €150 - 200 per night would fit our budget.

We stayed at the Hotel Duran in Figueres at the start of our cycling trip. Very comfortable. Walking distance of everything. Plus, the owner (not sure if current owner's family) was pals with Dali. There are sketches and Dali artwork all over the hotel. We enjoyed a meal at the restaurant (included with our cycle tour).
Thanks, Tim. That one was on my radar, as well. We're probably going to go with Pirineos, but I'll keep Duran in mind.
I thought the Hotel Duran was fine. I was very unimpressed with the restaurant; I don't remember all the details, but I know there were three issues, and I actually complained to the manager--I think the only time I've done that in a restaurant in my 73-year life. I believe one dish was served lukewarm and one lacked all flavor of an ingredient highlighted on the menu. It's not an expensive place, but it has aspirations, shall we say, and it was an extremely disappointing meal. Just one person's single experience.
Ah, thanks for that comment, acraven. I noticed that one of the other hotels recommended the Duran restaurant.
We're only going to be there two nights, and probably will not make reservations ahead of time, although one of the nights is a Saturday, so I may reconsider.

It was my impression that Figueres is not a wealthy town, at least not in comparison to Girona. It may well be the case that under normal circumstances the restaurant at the Duran is the best available and I just caught it on a very bad day.
I see it's been a while since this thread was active, but I'm curious if anyone has stayed in Figueres more recently. Are there any small, local hotels or B&Bs that you'd recommend? I'm looking for something with character, not just the big chain options. Also, how was your experience with location—was it better to stay near the Dalí Museum, or did you prefer a quieter area?
