Are tips for the maids included in the tour?

…hotel housekeepers in Spain are protected by labour laws and receive a guaranteed minimum wage. Tipping in hotels is optional and generally not expected. Of course, some staff members might appreciate the gesture, but it’s not something they rely on in the same way as in the US. Btw, drop the word "maid" when you are in Spain and use housekeeper instead... just friendly advice.

Tipping culture across Europe works differently. Outside of the usual places like restaurants, cafés, bars, or rounding up a taxi fare, leaving a tip can sometimes feel unnecessary or even awkward. In a few situations, offering money where it isn’t customary may come across as patronising rather than generous and be considered a rude gesture.

If you are taking the Rick Steves tour, all tips are included in your tour price. So, there is no need for any tipping on the tour.

When traveling independently, I always leave a tip for the housekeeping staff. I only get my room cleaned every 3 days or so.
