Hotel Recommendations for 2 Nights in Barcelona!

I am going to Barcelona on May 27th for 2 nights, departing May 29th. at 15:45. Anyone have some recommendations for a hotel that is:

A) Easy to get to from airport - arriving late at night 22:15
B) SAFE! - heard a lot of bad reports about Las Ramblas area and stuff being stolen
C) Not too expensive, but not too cheap either $100 - $130 USD per night
D) Has good WIFI, quiet rooms
E) Suitable for single female, in early 60’s

Is there such a thing? I am losing my will to live.... Must have looked at 200 hotels in Barcelona. Don’t know the city and it is spread out! Have no idea what is good area, what isn’t. I am finding the rates are pretty high but maybe I am looking at too expensive hotels. Like 3 star and up. I found in other cities in Spain, many Hostals that were quite good and very reasonable, but I didn’t find them until after I was there. I don’t want to wait as I am arriving at night.

HELP!!

Check out El Balcon De Born, Hostal Number one or two in the ratings for Barcelona...Stayed there last September and loved it. If they are not available, perhaps they can recommend some other to you. South of the Picasso Museum by a few blocks. Near the Gothic Quarter. Or any of the hotels near the top of Las Ramblas.

I have tried searching through this forum and did not find any RECENT hotels mentioned. Also, I had difficulty finding a search function for this forum. All you can do is scroll through pages and pages of questions. Am I missing the search function?

Rick's books that cover Barcelona list several hotels near Placa de Catalunya, which is very easy to get to by direct Aerobus, which departs the airport frequently until 1:00 a.m. One of these hotels is www.denit.com, which generally has single rooms from 80-110 euros/night, but you'll have to check for your dates.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Nouvel in the Barri Gotic for 2 nights and loved it. Ask for the room at the front with the balcony. There is an elevator. Hope this info is not too late. Enjoy Barcelona. Take the airport bus to Placa Catalunya, then it's a 2 or 3 minute walk.

Thanks for the suggestion, it looks nice! I have now booked the HCC Lugano for 77 euros per night. The Hotel Nouvel was only $90 euros, so pretty good price!

I stayed at the HCC Lugano. The hotel was very nice, room was great! They have a restaurant in the lobby area where they serve breakfast. It is on a major street, but not that close to the tourist areas. I took the hop on hop off bus which stopped about 4 blocks from the hotel. The metro stations were close to it as well as the bus line that goes to the airport. Taking the airport bus was very easy and fairly quick.
For convenience factor, I probably wouldn't stay there again, but it was well priced, very nice and for 2 nights was fine.

I met a French woman who lived in Barcelona on the bus when I arrived. Good thing! I had gone way past my bus stop and she gave me directions on how to take the metro and where to get off. The Metro station was close to the Lugano.
