Hotel recommendations and best train station for day trips in Madrid

Hello fellow travelers!

My husband and I are planning to be in Madrid for 5 nights in the middle of May this year. I’ve read many positive reviews on this website of the Hotel Europa. However, after reading many reviews, I’m concerned about the noise situation. I realize Spanish folks love to stay out until the wee hours, and it can get pretty loud in the main areas. Unfortunately, i am one of those light sleepers! Ugh! A good night’s sleep is of primary importance to me.
If anyone can suggest quieter, alternative, yet fairly central places to stay, (or if there are certain rooms at Europa that are not as noisy) I’d be very thankful!

Secondly, because we want to take day trips via Public transport, which train station is best to be located near? It looks like Chamartin has more regional trains and Atocha more high speed?
Thanks again for all the help!!

The station changes based on where the trains are going—roughly, trains to the north of the city (Segovia) are from Chamartin and to the south from Atocha (Toledo).

Chamartin is fine as a residential neighborhood, but it's quite a bit farther from the center than most visitors would want to be. Best to stay more central and take the Metro to Chamartin for day trips from there.
