Hello all, I am looking for a hotel for our last night in Barcelona in mid-October, we are catching a flight on Ryaniar the next day to Dublin at 10:20am. I have been looking at hotels near the airport, the prices are good but the reviews are not. I'm wondering if it's just as easy to stay a little further out and get to the airport in a taxi as it is to stay in a hotel with an airport shuttle. From reviews I am reading, the free shuttle service from many of the hotels is unreliable anyway. I would appreciate any comments on this, as well as your recommendations for hotels relatively near the airport. We are trying to keep to a budget of around $150/night. Thanks very much!

Where will you be staying the night before? If in Barcelona, stay at the same hotel. The airport is not far from city center.

If you had a 6 or 7 AM flight, I would understand staying near the airport. But with a 10:20 AM flight within Europe (albeit Schengen to non-Schengen), you only need to be at the airport 90-120 minutes before. A taxi to the airport will only take about 30 minutes, or you could take the frequent airport bus if you're staying near Plaça Catalunya. So, I'd stay in the center.

Our flight was at 7:30 in the morning, so we moved to the hotel that close to the airport and they have free shuttle bus to the airport start at early morning at 5;00. We stayed at Best Western Plus hotel Alfa Aeropuerto, Barcelona for the last night. The hotel is very clean and we like it. Not sure if they have free breakfast, because we leave at 5:00 in the morning. Make sure when you check in to book a spot for the shuttle bus.
