Does anyone have any thoughts on these two hotels or another they really like that is centrally located in Madrid for sight seeing? It's hard to figure out with all the reviews out there as some are written to help the hotel by non customers. We need an elevator/lift and a decent breakfast to start our day. Definitely like clean, comfort and accessibility to transportation (metro, bus, taxi). Thanks.
A friend of mine and his wife stayed at Hotel Francisco I last May and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. It is an easy walk to many sights in the city. My wife and I normally stay at Hotel Europa right at the Puerta Del Sol, but it does not have its own restaurant. Its offered breakfast isn’t great and expensive for what it is. In 2019 we stayed at Petit Palace Posada del Peine right at the Plaza Mayor. The room was ok, but the breakfast was very good.
We've stayed at Hotel Francisco twice and it is all those things you listed. We loved it the first time and kinda loved it the second. The street is lively and has several cafes to enjoy.
The locations of these hotels seem to be equal distance to Puerto del Sol, although Liabeny is equal distance to two other stops, Callao and Via.
The only negative I'll say about Francisco is that it was too hot in our room on our last visit (October) and the air conditioning didn't seem to respond when we adjusted it. AND our room I think on the second floor, and the street was noisy so opening the window didn't help. We didn't sleep well. The first visit we were higher up and had no issues with the air unit, although it was March and we didn't need to touch it.

Booking.com only allow reviews written by people who have actually stayed at the property, so you can trust them.
No recommendations but we are booked at the Petit Palace Posada del Peine in April
