Both Hotel Jazz and Portal de l'Angel are available for my November dates for about the same price.
They both have a good central location with easy airport transfers and breakfasts included.
Which would you choose?

There will be advocates for both responding and many, like me, have not been to both. We really enjoyed Portal de l’Angel. It had a pleasant pool for cooling off (maybe less important in November) and the best breakfast of our Spain tour. Close to Las Ramblas, but not too close, convenient to transit. Note that it is on a pedestrian only street so the taxi or bus stops a block away and you need to transport your luggage.
We chose hotel Jazz for our last day in bcn before leaving Spain , coming from granada. We'll also do the trip in mid November. The main reason for me is that we'll be arriving late, around 1am, and supposedly the aerobus stop is very close to hotel jazz. That, plus good reviews :)
Jazz - better roof terrace and pool.
We loved Portal de l’Angel. Only a block from the airport bus, great room, lovely outdoor space, great location to walk to most things.
Thanks for the insight
We stayed at Portal de l'Angel last September, as the initial hotel for Rick Steves' "Best of Spain" tour. We stayed 4 nights prior to the tour, and 2 nights for the tour, and loved every minute!
The service was wonderful, and they even accepted our poor attempts at Catalan with a smile each time we made contact.
Our room had a small balcony overlooking the main street, and the only noise we heard was once when there was a celebration of some sort & people in the apartments opposite were banging saucepans to the fellow party goers below.
It is a fantastic location, and very safe! It was not long after the tragic circumstances at Las Ramblas and it was well patrolled by police 24/7.
The hotel is very convenient to the aerobus from/ to the airport, just a matter of steps to "drag" the suitcases. ;)
We enjoyed varied offerings at the breakfast buffet, again experiencing great service from the staff, nothing was too much trouble. We also ventured out for several breakfasts in the local area when we did not feel like a "big" breakfast!
We are returning to Spain next year and will definitely be staying there again, it was such an enjoyable experience!
